On Monday, Sept. 9, 2013, the Wabash Valley Genealogy Society will sponsor a public program entitled: “Capturing the Soul of Indiana: Celebration of our Overlooked Cultural Heritage”.  The program will be presented by John Bower, award winning Hoosier photographer in the Vigo County Public Library in Terre Haute, IN.  Doors open at 6:00 pm with the program running from 6:30-8:30 pm.

John Bower and his wife, Lynn, operate “Studio Indiana” a business dedicated to creating exceptional photography books featuring Indiana’s fascinating, yet rapidly disappearing, cultural heritage.  Bower’s presentation will include exhibiting a wide variety of exceptionally high quality black and white photos that deal with various aspects of the Hoosier historical landscape.

Bower has a BS degree from Purdue and an MAT Degree in Education from Ball State University.  John has received numerous awards.  He is one of a very select group to be named an Indiana Artisan.

In 2011, John and wife, Lynn, were named as Distinguished Hoosiers for their exceptional on-going dedication to artfully preserving on film, and in photography books, Indiana’s vanishing historical heritage.

In addition to photography work and publishing books, John also makes numerous presentations about his work to libraries, historical societies and other local organizations.

The program is free to the public.
